Eastern Kentucky University: Resident Advisors Prohibited from Speaking to Reporters
Cases
Eastern Kentucky University
Case Overview
EKU maintains a blanket prohibition on resident advisors speaking to journalists, making no exception for speaking to the media in individual capacities or on topics of public concern. On April 14, FIRE wrote EKU explaining that this ban violates resident advisors’ freedom of expression, as well as inhibits student journalists’ ability to cover campus issues. We urged the university to revise the policy.
